Parents, this is for you!
While we at DigID are striving to make digital literacy for parents and kids a top priority, we could not do it without the help of some important programs that are listed below:
The National Association of Media Literacy Education is dedicated to media literacy becoming a 21st-century life skill.
They realize that media plays such a critical part in the world and hope to help educate those who seek out information
News Literacy Project is a non-profit site designed to help students move forward in the current digital age that we live in. Their site helps with understanding news sources, media organizations and professional skills that would be needed in digital literacy.
Common Sense Media is a leading non-profit organization that is committed to helping kids learn the current state of media. Their core demographic is to help parents and educators help facilitate this education to children to have a better digital world.
Adam Ruins Everything is a show that originally started on YouTube, but then gained notoriety and the show was picked up by TruTV. While "Adam Ruins Everything" isn't solely dedicated to digital literacy, it has been a good source for digital media literacy in specials that they have had in the past.
CrashCourse is a site and YouTube channel committed to helping everyone with subjects that usually take a long time to learn. CrashCourse is not solely dedicated to digital literacy, but their "CrashCourse" on the subject of Media Literacy can help parents who want to get started to learn for themselves and their kids.
SmarterEveryDay is a website and YouTube channel that is run by engineer "Destin" to help make everyday people smarter! (pretty simple!) His channel discusses an array of things from an engineering POV and his discussions about "Manipulating YouTube" and "Your News Sucks" are videos that help bring digital literacy to the forefront.
